Pop culture

POP CULTURE
(commonly known as pop culture) is the totality of ideas, perspectives, attitudes, memes,[1] images and other phenomena that are deemed preferred per an informal consensus within the mainstream of a given culture, especially Western culture of the early to mid 20th century and the emerging global mainstream of the late 20th and early 21st century. Heavily influenced by mass media, this collection of ideas permeates the everyday lives of the society. (source by wikipedia)

Well, considering above, in my opinion I think pop culture is like anything  that most people like or doing.

Good examples are Facebook, Mixi, Twitter and so on.
Those are very popular for not only young people but slso other generation as well :)

  1. Isn't it interesting how many words in the wikipedia entry for "pop culture" has links to other words?

I tend to agree with your own definition that pop culture involved a majority of the people doing or being interested in the thing or idea. I wonder if the word "anything" in your definition is too general.

It's interesting that all of the examples you give are social media platforms. Do you suggest that tools such as Facebook, Mixi and Twitter have an influence on Pop Culture?
